Dear Friends:

Thank you for your generous support of the Camp Colley Foundation. Since our inception in 1999, the Camp Colley Foundation has raised $1.8M to send more than 6,500 underserved City of Phoenix children to summer camp and provided them with opportunities to experience nature, develop self-confidence and resilience, and build meaningful relationships.

We are proud of our legacy and what we have achieved throughout our 23-year history, but now the time has come for us to wind down our operations, effective September 30, 2022.

The last two years have been, to say the least, challenging. In 2020, as the pandemic was spreading rapidly through the Spring, we made the difficult decision to forego the in-person camp season for the health and safety of our campers and staff. We began the summer 2021 camp season, energized and ready to provide a robust camp experience. But sadly, the devasting fire season forced us to close once again, after only four sessions. Two back-to-back summers without operating camp at its fullest capacity, coupled with some other administrative changes, led the Foundation’s Board of Directors to make this difficult decision.

We did not make this decision lightly. We explored many options with our long-time partner, the City of Phoenix Parks and Recreation Department, and determined that this would be the best solution that worked for both organizations.

As we begin to wind down our operation, our plan is to thoughtfully distribute any remaining assets to other non-profits who align with our mission so that your donations will still provide City of Phoenix children with a summer camp experience.

We are truly saddened by this news, but we can say goodbye with pride, knowing that we achieved our mission and positively impacted so many children during our 23 years of operations.

As a loyal supporter, your role in what we have accomplished cannot be lauded enough, and we thank you for your part in making this all possible.

If you have questions about the future of Camp Colley, please contact the City of Phoenix Parks and Recreation Department at https://www.phoenix.gov/parks or 602-262-6862.

We are forever grateful for your support.

Sincerely,

Camp Colley Foundation Board of Directors
